Zambian artist Yo Maps released a new campaign song titled “Aleteka” on October 20, 2025, explicitly supporting President Hakainde Hichilema and the United Party for National Development (UPND) ahead of the 2026 presidential election.
In addition, the lyrics contain political messages, with lines such as “The opposition should go to the farm, cultivate maize, and start supplying FRA. HH is the boss.”
Following its release, the song has received mixed reactions from the public. Some have criticized Yo Maps for creating the campaign track, while others view it as a rallying call for the UPND.
The single, produced by Olios Records, has triggered widespread public and social debate regarding the role of artists in politics, with lyrics calling for the opposition to cultivate maize while praising President Hichilema.
